SCYSA 2019 Rule Changes:

  1. A player who is being substituted must leave the field at the nearest point on the boundary line, unless otherwise directed by the ref.
  2. Player substitutions may occur at any stoppage (e.g. fouls, injury, throw-ins, corner kicks, goal kicks) with the Referee permission.
  3. Stoppages for drink breaks should not exceed 1 min. and cooling breaks should be between 90 secs and 3 mins.
  4. The team that wins the coin toss decides whether to take the kick-off or which goal to defended.
  5. If the goalkeeper throws the ball directly into the opponents goal, no goal, goal kick is awarded.
  6. There is no pass to the keeper offences if the keeper has clearly kicked or attempted to kick the ball, then the keeper may play the ball with their hands.
  7. When there are more than 3 defending players in a defending wall all attacking team players must remain at least 1 yard from the wall until the ball is in play.
  8. All free kicks taken by the defending team inside the penalty area, the ball is in play when it is kicked and clearly moves.
  9. Goal kicks - The ball may be placed anywhere inside the 6 yard area, and the ball is in play when the ball is kicked and clearly moves. It does not have to leave the penalty area to be played by another player.
  10. Drop ball - If the ball touches the official and a goal is scored, team possession changes, or stops a promising attack. The ref will stop play and issue a drop ball to the team that was in possession before the ball touched the official. If it happened in the penalty area the goalkeeper is to take the dropped ball. Outside the penalty area one player from the team that had last possession will take the drop ball. All other players must be 4.5 yards away from the spot.
 
General Information

All players MUST wear proper shin guards in order to participate in any practice or game. NO EXCEPTIONS

All players should bring plenty to drink to every practice and game.

All players will need to bring a ball to every practice and game.
Size 3: u6 & u8 (in-house developmental program)
Size 4: grades 3-4
Size 5: grades 5-8

No jewelry is allowed to be worn during any practice or game.
- Medical bracelets are the ONLY exception
- Taping earrings is NOT allowed

Cleats are highly recommended but are not required.
